Fabrics :
T-shirt basic: the most common fabric of a basic T-shirt is Cotton Jersey 160gsm or 180 gsm. (gsm = weight per m2)
Cotton jersey is sold by kilos. We can realize 3 to 4 T-shirts per kilo depending on the size and the sleeves length.
For a specific color, 25 kg is the minimum weight of Cotton Jersey fabric that should be ordered to be able to do the dyeing.
The collar of a T-shirt is made out of another type of weaving called Rib 1/1 to improve its “elasticity”.
It takes around 3 weeks to supply a specific Cotton Jersey in Mauritius.
The cost per kilo: Fluctuates according to the dollar (price of cotton yarn) and the cost of the dye but the average amount is between 6 to 8 euros / kilo – see table fabrics costs
Polo shirt basic: The most common fabric for a basic Polo shirt is cotton fabric weaved in ‘piqué’ style of 180gsm or 220gsm. As cotton jersey, cotton piqué is sold per kilo and can be weaved in Mauritius. The minimum order is similar to the cotton jersey fabric.
Collars and cuffs also need a specific weaved for each size
The estimated time for an order of pique cotton is about 5 weeks
